The Royal Family Just Shared New Photos of Prince Harry’s Private Trip to Africa
Fresh off reportedly getting fancy new house from the Queen, Prince Harry is getting back to business. The royal is in Amsterdam this week for the International AIDS Conference, and Kensington Palace released new photos of his private trip to Africa to mark the occasion. Back in June, Harry went to Lesotho as part of a charity he cofounded, Sentebale. And the photos are a sweet look at a great cause.
Prince Harry founded Sentebale with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006, with the goal of supporting young people affected by HIV in Lesotho and Botswana. Sentebale translates to “forget me not,” and was created as a tribute to both Princess Diana and Seeiso’s mother, Queen ‘Mamohato, because they both were committed to HIV and AIDS charity work during their lifetimes. Seeiso, the youngest brother of the king of Lesotho, was the only foreign royal invited to his wedding this year.
Sentebale also released photos from Harry’s June trip. Photographer Chris Jackson wrote on Instagram the royal “played games as part of a program that educates and helps empower [children] to take control of their future.”
Peopleconfirmed Meghan Markle did not join him on the “low-key” trip, which also included opening a new dining hall and attending a board meeting for Africa Parks in Botswana.
In Amsterdam on Monday, Harry met with youth leaders who are fighting to stop the stigma around HIV and AIDS in their communities. He also met with Princess Mabel of the Netherlands to talk about how to improve policy to fight the disease.
